The Himalayas from high and lows: Your adventure often begins with a breathtaking flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, where you hover directly between 8000-meter giants such as Dhaulagiri and Annapurna! Then you're on the ground, riding with these colossal peaks as a constant backdrop.
Ride into a "Forbidden Kingdom": The ultimate highlight: you cycle straight to Lo Manthang, the ancient walled capital of Upper Mustang. It's like stepping back in time – discover ancient monasteries, a royal palace and a vibrant Tibetan Buddhist culture that has been preserved for centuries.
Lunar landscapes and epic trails: forget green mountains; this is a trans-Himalayan desert. You'll ride through colorful canyons, dramatic cliffs and wide open plains. The trails are fantastic: rugged jeep tracks, exciting single tracks and varied terrain make every pedal stroke exciting.

Upper Mustang is a protected and restricted zone, so a special permit is required to visit and ride here. The Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is required for all riders and helps to preserve the unique culture and delicate environment of Mustang. The Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) is also needed for this region.
In order to have a safe and legal tour, you will need a legally registered licensed agency like Nepal Mountain Bike. One of the best times to visit Upper Mustang is in spring (March to May) and fall (September to November). During these months, the weather is clear and dry, making the trails safe and pleasant. You will experience warm days and cool nights, perfect for mountain biking.
