This Upper Mustang MTB guided tour package starts in Kathmandu, travels to Pokhara, ride around Fewa Lake then flies to Jomsom before riding north through Kagbeni into the restricted Upper Mustang region. The route follows dirt roads, rocky jeep tracks, singletracks, and optional technical sections across high passes and open plateaus, reaching Lo-Manthang at the heart of the Forbidden Kingdom.

Upper Mustang offers unmatched diversity: ride from the world’s deepest gorge through alpine forests to high Himalayan deserts. Experience a cultural tapestry of Buddhist, Hindu, Gurung, and Magar traditions while exploring ancient caves and the Forbidden Kingdom of Lo. Truly a topographic marvel!
The Mustang Reality! While our daily distances (25–45 km) seem short, the high altitude (up to 4,280 m) and rugged, non-man-made trails double the perceived effort.
Intense headwinds in the Kali Gandaki Valley (Jomsom to Chele) peak after 11:00 AM. We time our rides for sunrise to finish before the wind starts.

Expect rocky tracks and sand, loose mud based on the season and not like a bike parks. These trails require intermediate to advanced handling skills.
We recommend carrying some Nepalese cash in the mountain as there are no ATMs after Jomsom. There are no bike shops past Jomsom, so, our guides carry specialized expedition-level spares and mechanical back up with mobile workshop mini tools , also manage all E-MTB battery logistics.
Riders should be comfortable riding multiple days at altitude. Bring layered clothing, a reliable mountain or gravel bike, helmet, gloves, and a small daypack. ATMs are not available after Jomsom, charging is often paid, and mobile network is limited in Upper Mustang.
Spring (March–May): Clear skies and stable weather
Autumn (September–November): Best overall riding conditions
Monsoon: Possible due to rain shadow, requires planning
If you have no time to travel Nepal in spring and autumn, the Upper Mustang mountain biking tour could be the best one to ride in monsoon season.
Winter: Cold and limited services contact us before booking the trip as we need to check the trails and tea houses.
Upper Mustang mountain biking involves riding above 3,000 m on multiple days. Proper acclimatization, hydration, and listening to your body are essential. Travel insurance covering high-altitude activities is strongly recommended.
